Automatic transmissions normally shift, automatically, based on line pressures, vehicle speed, vehicle load and other factors which the driver has no control over. IMO I would not recommend a full manual valve body for a street vehicle. It will run full line pressure all the time plus be a pain in the rear to have to constantly shift it. If you want the best of both worlds use a manual/auto valve body; you can put it in D or shift manually if you choose to.
