Full manual valve body

 · I was just wondering if there is any difference in shift quality between a reverse pattern full manual valve body versus a full manual forward pattern version. I have heard (prehaps erroneously) that the former is quicker for some reason. Also does engine braking offered with some full manual valve bodies slow forward shifting speed.  · To assist in deceleration, this valve body provides full engine braking in 1st, 2nd 3rd gears. People go both ways an which to chose in a street application. Some like a manual valve body on the street, others say they are to harsh shifting for their taste and/or want their automatic to work like an automatic not a clutch-less 3 speed.

Automatic transmissions normally shift, automatically, based on line pressures, vehicle speed, vehicle load and other factors which the driver has no control over. IMO I would not recommend a full manual valve body for a street vehicle. It will run full line pressure all the time plus be a pain in the rear to have to constantly shift it. If you want the best of both worlds use a manual/auto valve body; you can put it in D or shift manually if you choose to.
